Practice Oneness
“I've had glimpses of something bigger than my to-do list, and then I go back to the to-do list.”
You become: Someone with a standing practice of attention, silence, and service, instead of an occasional mood
Oneness isn't a belief you adopt — it's an attention you pay. This journey doesn't ask what you believe about God, the universe, or nothing at all. It gives you the concrete practices — sensory attention, deliberate silence, service without credit, gratitude specific enough to write down, and an honest look at the whole arc of your life so far — that people across every tradition and no tradition use to feel part of something bigger than themselves. Every step produces something you can point to: a walk taken, an hour sat, an act done, a page written.
Understand
Why oneness is a practice of attention anyone can do, not a belief you have to sign onto first.
Practice
Real sits, real walks, real acts of service, repeated on a schedule instead of hoped for once.
Create
A gratitude record, a life-review document, and a next concrete step on a dream you're actually pursuing.
Evidence
Dated logs of silence, service, and attention, plus a written map of every dream you've chased in this one life.
See what's actually here
Before adding any practice, get honest about what you already believe, doubt, or have never examined — and start paying attention to the senses you already have.
- Understand20m
Write down what you actually believe, in your own words
No essay. Answer in plain language, for yourself only: do you think there's something larger than you — call it God, Source, the universe, energy, nature, or nothing at all — and what makes you think that? Write the honest current answer, not the answer that would sound good to someone else. 'I don't know' is a complete, valid answer if it's true.
You’ll have:One written page, dated, in your own words, that you didn't have before.
- Practice20m
Take a 20-minute walk with no phone, using every sense on purpose
Leave your phone behind or in your pocket, off. Walk somewhere outdoors for 20 minutes. Every few minutes, deliberately notice one thing per sense: what you hear, what you smell, the temperature and texture of the air on your skin, what's actually in your field of vision instead of what you expect to see. Say it in your head, specifically — not 'nice day' but 'the concrete is warmer than the shade six feet away.'
You’ll have:A record of the walk: time, place, and at least five specific sensory notes, written immediately after.
- Understand20m
Read one account of how someone else practices connection, and note where it overlaps with yours
Find one written source — a religious text, a philosopher, a scientist, a poem, an interview — where someone describes their own practice of feeling part of something larger. Read it start to finish. Write three lines: one thing that overlaps with how you already think, one thing that's genuinely foreign to you, and one practice from it you could actually try this week.
You’ll have:Three written lines naming overlap, difference, and one practice to try.
